The event which was held at the Barnhill Resort Awka was geared towards sensitizing the general public on the need to immunize their children or ward between the age bracket of 0 – 5 years against polio and donation of wheelchairs and clutches to polio survivors in the South East Geopolitical zones.

The Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano represented by the Commissioner of Special Duties, Sir Obi Nobert commended Sir Emeka Offor Foundation for their contribution to the eradication of polio in Nigeria and all parts of the world.  He urged the physically challenged people to contribute favourably to the society calling on beneficiaries to put to maximum use the gift items given to them.

In the same vein, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ahaneku while congratulating Sir Emeka Offor Foundation in the fight against polio described him as a global ambassador whose act of charity is worthy of emulation. He noted his efforts at helping young men and women to achieve their purpose in life despite their physical disabilities and thanked him for restoring hope to the hopeless.

He advised the physically challenged and polio survivors not to lose hope but see themselves as people who can contribute significantly to the economy.

The benefactor Sir Emeka Offor in his speech tagged: “Think of what you can give back to the society for what has been given to you” expressed optimism that by the end of the year, polio will be completely eradicated from our country.  He called on government institutions and individuals to partner with Rotary Club International in combating polio in the society.
